"Increase Metabolism, Rev It Up"

Increase Metabolism:

Who hasn’t wished for a faster, higher metabolism? If we believe what’s in the popular press, just boost your metabolism is all it takes for a new, svelte, energetic youthful you!

Well, there’s a little more to the story. (Isn’t there always?) Simply put, metabolism is all the chemical reactions that occur in living organisms in order to maintain life, by allowing them to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments—the total of all body processes that burn calories. Yes, burn calories—aha!

If you want to boost metabolism, there’s some good news and some bad news.

First, the bad—some of what determines your metabolism is out of your control. People are born with a high, fast metabolism—or not. Also, metabolism naturally decreases with age, about five percent per decade—which causes loss of muscle mass, and usually, weight gain.

Now the good news: metabolism doesn’t have to slow with age—and here’s where your control does come in.

Antioxidants and boosting your metabolism:

A tasty way to get your antioxidants and increase metabolism is with green tea. There is emerging evidence that green tea can help with weight maintenance or weight loss by increasing metabolism.

Catechins, the primary bioflavonoid antioxidants found in tea, provide a number of health benefits.

They help repair and maintain blood vessels and reduce inflammation in the body—thereby reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer.

A recent study showed that dieters who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories from the same activity than those given only caffeine or a placebo. The thermogenic—metabolism-boosting—properties of green tea endear it to dieters around the world. And it’s full of valuable free-radical-fighting antioxidants as well.

"So rev it up, your metabolism—anytime, anywhere—and keep burning those calories—all day, everyday".
